Yatzy Royale: Tips & Tricks to Win

What is Yatzy Royale?

Yatzy Royale is a new mobile card game that remixes the rules of Yahtzee to create a new skill-based game. Unlike traditional Yahtzee, Yatzy Royale uses cards instead of dice. The game challenges user’s strategic and organizational skills through their unlimited free play and cash prize tournaments.

Yatzy Royale is free to download on all iOS and Samsung devices, with no required in-app purchases to enjoy the game. Even better, Yatzy Royale is ad free and distraction free, so you can play with no pesky interruptions.

The game was developed by Tether Studios and Skillz Games, the cash prize mobile game duo that continuously churns out hits. If you have looked into mobile games on your app store, before, you’ve probably already heard of them. They’re the developers behind mega hits like Solitaire Cube, and Cube Cube.

Skillz Games is one of the top dogs in the real money gaming world, they facilitate millions of dollars in cash prizes every single year, and their games have been downloaded millions of times by users like you.  Yatzy Royale is one of the newest releases from the developer duo, sporting top-notch colorful graphics and easy to operate game controls.

You don’t need any special experience to play this game for cash. You can start winning even if this is the first mobile game that you’ve ever played because Yatzy Royale will pair you with other real competitors who match your skill level.

The app will analyze your gameplay as you participate in the free practice rounds, so if you’re a beginner you won’t have to compete against advanced players. This ensures that every cash tournament competitor has a fair shot at the win regardless of their gaming experience.

Does Yatzy Royale Pay Real Cash Prizes?

Yes, Yatzy Royale pays real money to users through their legit cash prizes on the app.

Even though you can win some extra money on the app, it’s important to note that Yatzy Cash won’t make you a millionaire. Yatzy Royale is just a game and shouldn’t be treated as a means to earn cash or get rich.  The cash tournaments on Yatzy Royale are intended to enhance the game and make it more competitive and fun.

With that being said, Yatzy Cash does in fact pay their prizes with real money through PayPal. Many cash prize games don’t actually pay cash, instead opting to pay their winners through gift cards. But that’s not the case with Yatzy Royale, they pay their users realm money that you can transfer to your virtual wallet through PayPal.

If you want to raise the stakes of your friendly competitions, then the cash tournaments on Yatzy Royale may be a great fit for you. But if you don’t want to play for cash, that’s totally fine! Yatzy Royale offers unlimited free play tournaments where you can earn Z-coins.

How to Play Yatzy Royale

Yahtzee vs Yatzy Royale

In a game of Yahtzee, you are challenged to roll certain combinations of numbers with five dice. With each turn, you throw the dice with the hopes of completing combinations like three of a kind, full house, and straights. Your primary goal is to fulfil a combination with every roll, and you only have once chance per to fill every category on your board.

Yatzy Royale takes the basic rules of Yahtzee and turns it into a card game.

Instead of rolling dice, you will be dealt a hand of cards. It is your job to assign each hand to one of the specific combinations listed on your chart.

Yatzy Royale game play

Yatzy Royale uses only five card rankings (10 through ace plus two jokers) for a grand total of 22 cards per deck.

You will be dealt a hand of 5 cards per round, and you have two opportunities to shuffle and discard your hand before you assign your hand to one of the combinations. You cannot reassign a hand to a combination that has already been completed, so be strategic when marking off your card combo goals.

Here are all of the combos on your Yatzy Royale score card that.

  • SUM- any combination of cards, you will be awarded as many points as the cards are worth. Tens are worth the least number of points, and jokers are worth the most.
  • Three of a kind- three cards of the same rank
  • Four of a kind- four cards of the same rank
  • Five of a kind- five cards of the same rank
  • Small run- three cards in the order from the same suit (ten, jack, queen)
  • Large run- five cards in order from the same suit (ten, jack, queen, king, ace)
  • Full house- any three cards of the same rank along with any two cards of the same rank (three kings and two queens)
  • Royal Flush- all cards in the Yatzy Royale deck, all in one suit (ten, jack, queen, king, ace)
  • Top Slots- get points for every card in your hand from the same rank.

Every competitor will have five minutes to fill out their score card. Whoever scores the most points with their deck will win.

Yatzy Royale Tips and Tricks

Here are our go-to tips that can help you maximize your score and even win more cash on Yatzy Royale.

Target Major Hands

Royal flush and five of a kind are the hands that you’re going to want to prioritize. You’ll get the most points for these hands, so start with these.  Even after you’ve filled these slots on your score card, keep trying for them. If you submit a royal flush of five of a kind to other sections, you can boost your point total.

Let’s say you have already filled your five of a kind slot and you are now shooting for four of a kind and three of a kind. If you end up with another five of a kind, you can submit it to the three or four of a kind slots to get even more points.

You will receive 500 points for each royal flush and 750 points for every five of a kind.

Aim for the Top Slot Bonus

Don’t write off the power that top slots can have on your total score. If you score 450 points in your top slots, you will receive a 350-point bonus. To guarantee that you reach the 450-point minimum to receive the bonus, make sure that you have an average of three target cards in ever top slot.

Never Take a Zero

Do whatever it takes not to get a zero on your score card. If you fulfill every section, you will get a 500-point bonus added to you score.

Don’t Prioritize Speed

The time bonus is small on Yatzy Royale and can be insignificant compared to other point bonuses you can get if you take your time and are careful with your moves. Therefore it is best to focus on making smart moves and developing your strategy before you start playing for speed.

What is a Good Score on Yatzy Royale?

Yatzy Royale has very slim margins of victory, so every move you make in the game matters.

The app automatically matches you with competitors who share your skill level, so what’s considered a “good” score is all relative to your skills in the game. The smart competitor matching system on Yatzy Royale makes it difficult to define a successful score because you could win a game with fewer than 1,000 points so long as you outscored your competitor.

But if you’re aiming to level up and become a fierce competitor, shoot for 10,000 points and upward per round of Yatzy Royale.

How do Cash Tournaments on Yatzy Royale Work?

Yatzy Royale (and all other games on the Skillz platform) offer head-to-head and tournament style competitions.

In head-to-head competitions, you’ll play against one other competitor where the winner will take all. Tournament style competitions host three to five competitors, where the top three scorers will split the prize pool.

Every tournament on the app has the amount of competitors, cash prize amount, entry fee, listed. It’s always best to check and see how the cash prize will be divided among the competitors before you play. Just tap the cash prize quantity on any tournaments in the home page to see how the prize pool will be split.

Once you hit play, you will play your own solo game of Yatzy Royale. When you’re finished, submit your score and await the results. The cash prizes will be automatically dispersed once every competitor has submitted their score.

How Much Real Money Can you Win on Yatzy Royale?

There is no limit to how much cash you can win on Yatzy Royale. Your winning potential all boils down to how much you’re willing to risk.

For every cash tournament you enter in to, you’ll have to pay a small entry fee. Yatzy Royale entry fees are priced according to the quantity of the cash prize pool. Every contestant must pay the same amount to enter, and the entry fees make up the cash prize pool in any given tournament. Therefore, the higher the cash prize rewards, the more the entry fee will be.

There is a wide variety of risk levels across Yatzy Royale’s tournaments. Cash prize pools start at $1 and can go all the way up to $200 per game. However, you will have to work your way up to the three-figure cash prize pools. To do so, just play the game- higher paying cash prizes will become available to you as you level up.

When you’re first starting out, you’ll be able to get your footing with low-risk cash prize pools where you can win anywhere from $1 to $8 in just one round of the game. Games only take a few minutes to play, so you can have your cash winnings in no time.
